St Elizabeth’s Parish

Our Parish.

Welcome to our parish of St Elizabeth’s. We are a Benedictine parish looked after by monks from Douai Abbey in Berkshire. Fr Godric and Fr Boniface live in the priory at Ormskirk but regularly come across to Scarisbrick to say Mass and to visit people in the parish.

We are a small congregation so have only one Mass on Sunday at 9.30 a.m. We have a friendly choir which provides a variety of different music for our services and is always open for new members. If you would be interested in joining our readers’ rota we would also love to hear from you.

At each Mass we have a Children’s liturgy, where younger children can go in to the house with two of the team to access the Mass readings in a child friendly way. They return in time to join us for the celebration of Eucharist. Each term we try to have one Sunday Mass where St Mary’s school takes a more central part in our celebrations.

The parish has a Pastoral Council, each year they organise a number of events, some social and some aimed at providing opportunities to allow people to discover their faith or understand it more deeply. These are advertised via the school’s weekly newsletter and the parish bulletin.

We are eager to welcome families to our community and to respond where we can to their needs, so if there is something that you would like us to try to do, or a way in which you think we could help then please let us know.

The chairman of the Pastoral Council is Mr Joe McNamara and the secretary is Mrs Mary Ormsby, both of whom can be contacted via the parish office (01704 880226) which is open on Tuesday & Wednesday mornings. If you call outside these times your call will be redirected to St Anne’s Ormskirk who will then pass on the information to us.
